What does AI say about your website?

When someone asks an AI assistant about your company, its answer may be the first thing they learn about you. This test asks Google Gemini, with live Google Search, what your website is, what it offers and who it is for, then shows the answer word for word, the searches it ran and the sources it used. You see whether AI knows you, whether it describes you correctly and whether it sends readers to your own site.

Answer generated by Google Gemini with Google Search grounding. AI answers change over time and differ between assistants.

How it works

  1. We send one question to Google Gemini with Google Search grounding: describe the website at your domain in 3 to 5 sentences in English, using only information about that exact domain, or reply UNKNOWN.
  2. Your brand name is taken from your page's structured data, og:site_name or title, and added to the question when it differs from the domain.
  3. Answers are cached for 3 days per domain and brand name, so running the test again within that time shows the same answer.
  4. The check runs under a shared daily limit; when the limit is reached, or the AI does not answer, the result is not scored and you can try again later.
  5. AI answers vary between runs and between assistants, so treat the result as a snapshot of one assistant, not of ChatGPT, Claude or Perplexity.

How it is scored

The score uses our item-weighted formula: a pass earns full credit, a warning half and a fail none. Being described counts 3×, being cited as a source 2× and your brand name appearing in the answer 1×. If the assistant cannot describe your site, both main items fail and the score is 0.

FAQ

How do I get AI assistants to mention my website?
No one can guarantee it, and answers change over time. What helps: let AI crawlers reach your pages, state what you do in one clear line in your title, meta description and About page, add Organization structured data, and earn mentions on trusted third-party sites such as directories, review sites and the press. Run this test again after search engines have recrawled your site.
Why does AI say it cannot find my website?
Usually because there is little to find: a new or small site, a name shared with other companies, few mentions elsewhere, or pages that crawlers cannot read. The assistant is told to answer UNKNOWN rather than guess, which avoids made-up descriptions. The AI crawler and AI readiness tests show problems on your side.
Is this the same answer ChatGPT would give?
No. This test uses Google Gemini with Google Search, so the answer reflects what Google's index says about you. ChatGPT, Claude and Perplexity use their own models and search sources and may answer differently, but the same weak spots, such as few outside mentions or pages that are hard to read, tend to affect all of them.
What if the AI describes my site incorrectly?
Start with the sources list, which shows the pages the answer relied on. Correct your own pages first, especially the home and About pages, then ask the owners of outdated directory or review listings to update them. Assistants pick up changes only after their search sources recrawl those pages.
Why is my own site not cited as a source?
The assistant used other pages that described you more clearly or ranked higher for the searches it ran. Put a concise summary of who you are and what you offer near the top of your home and About pages, answer common questions directly, and make sure those pages load without JavaScript.
